Lots can happen over a coffee…
This might sound simple yet can put you onto the thinking mode...."A lot can happen over coffee"
Ever wondered why this phrase is so widely accepted or what are the lots that can happen?
I guess I have the answer for it...me a person who is not a great coffee lover is saying this...
A foreign land filled with strangers and strange habits..strange living style..Strange eating habits,,,strange environment....
A drive to one of the strange places just to make myself accustomed to this lifestyle and this part of the world...
Its in one of these trips I the realised the importance of hometown...a life with ur loved ones closeby..just a call away and good home food..
With this deep feeling in my heart I decided to stop by a coffee shop...one which has come to be one of my favorites..thanks to my love..my hubby for that..
This was one of the first places he took me as soon as the air got me to this part of the world...the United states of America.
For sometime I had just heard him say over the phone about his fondness for a coffee shop...thats when I wondered if there was really something about having a cup of coffee all by ur own...
For me having coffee with friends is just yet another way of having some good time but never been a passion..
Now having been here..he decided to give me a glimpse of his passion..his love for Starbucks...
I had bluttered out cappucino unconsciously when he asked me for the first time what i would like to have...it was the first few days of my entry into the newly wed bliss...sipped the coffee wondering whats with his love for coffee...
As he puts its "Its goooood!!!!" in a tone that sounds like me wiping my lips with my tongue after some yummy chocolate cake..
And that too for his "Regular coffee TALL" :) as he always puts it....
After having visited this place a couple of times after my visit, it had been like a routine whenever we drive far to visit starbucks as a custom for coffee...and for me it had become one of those games where i decided to take a shot and try all the tactics involved with the game...each visit a different coffee just to make sure
i can choose the best and announce the proud winner of coffee at the end of the show...
Infatuated by this new game i had started i was always with him when i heard the very sound of "Starbucks"....Funny indeed...
Here I am after a visit to Nashville, after a little chat with Lord Ganesha, we decided to drive back home early..It was a well spent holiday but with a hollow feeling of missing family...missing mom and dad and the good old Bangalore..
The clock struck 6 and i heard those words again.."Honey can u please lookout for a starbucks"
I smiled.. i knew it was a coffee time...Brushing out my emotions i entered the life of the new happiness i had found...and quickly began to run my eyes over the exit signs which would lead us to Starbucks...
"There it is sweetheart" I said with glee..Hello I am not supposed to be liking coffee...What has gone upon me I wondered..
He rushed into the exit like it was his second home and took the left that straight led to one of those..Starbuks..
He pulled over and we walked in.,,.i had already began to wonder whats going to be my pick this time...peppermint or cinnamon..Hmmm let me think...what tastes good...
Whats it this time honey" he asked and I said i guess i need to try cinnamon...with his smile that always speaks "You’r crazy" he went ahead..
"Regular coffee tall and cinnamon latte tall" he said..
The coffee was on its way..I looked around..Huge crowd..Its Christmas..These guys should have been with family having fun....thats what we do back in India...
Why here???? was the thought on my mind at this moment..
I found a seat that would just be right for me to think over it. ..I sat...Looked around with curiosity...just wanted to know why would someone let go off the Christmas fun and be here to sip coffee...
My eyes first fell on an african american who happened to be some kind of volunteer in TN...now that i made out with the clothes she had on her..there was a kind of serious talk happening with her and an old man with her..to me it looked like he was trying to share something with her or she was probably trying to help him out with some issue he had...may be...not sure though...
Behind them were two friends...gazing at a laptop and trying to find some solution or something...now thats what i call solving a problem with a cup of coffee in hand..
To my left i turned to see an old man..probably in his 70s...sipping coffee and deep in thoughts...now there is a whole life that he has lived to think over..
Contrasting, there was a bunch of good old friends catching up on old times over a cup of coffee..their coffee was surely iced with lots of smiles...
another mom trying to talk to her little princess about her school..over coffee again...
another couple...holding hands and sipping coffee..coffee shop can be a romantic spot too...why not...
and here i was sitting with my husband...i sunk into my thoughts with a cup of coffee and my husband relaxing after his long drive with a cup of coffee...
Thats when the phase struck me "Indeed a lot can happen over coffee"...Loving, relaxing, enjoying, thinking, pondering, solving, meeting, talking...
anything...just think of it..hold a cup of coffee and make it happen....it will just be done before u finish ur last sip...
my last sip it was...and i was done with accepting the phrase i was thinking..and my husband smiled relaxed and said " shall we?"
He was ready for the drive again...i quickly nodded and we walked towards the car..with the leftover taste in my tongue and sweet memories in my mind….
